• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

That seller likes to sell garbage radios. If eBay lets you select the option, just return it anyway.

You should have probably done better research before buying one of these. It would have saved you a headache.

didn't even notice it was depot. anyways i filed a return with ebay and shipping his radio and accessories back to him. ideally this thread should be locked / closed as there is nothing more that can be contributed that is of any help since i am doing a return. i have a mol account and have for years. i'm just sticking with motorola / kenwood. i was scammed on the harris software due to not paying attention and not doing my research first. after all these years i guess it was finally bound to happen.

I agree. He shouldn’t set up a listing that way unless he is prepared to accept returns and he knows that.

It sucks you had this sequence of events take place. I’ll admit that wading the Harris waters isn’t the easiest. There are a lot of very particular things to look for in these radios, but the equipment is worth it if you can see your way through.

I’d encourage you to keep learning, keep asking questions here, keep reading other threads, and try again if you want. As of now, you’re only out the software and return shipping… I’ve wasted more money ruining multiband antennas trying to (unsuccessfully) tune them… Chalk it up to a good lesson learned the hard way and don’t give up! People here are generally helpful, but give folks some time to respond. Lots of times, I’ll get a very helpful response or private message a good week after I ask a question. Some people only have time to read the forums a couple of times a week.

Good luck!

As feebay continues it's quest to f**k people out of money. More sellers are going to try creative ways to f**k feebay's policies. It just creates s**tier sellers and buyers. How many class action law suits has eBay lost now?

Well i got everything i need for this radio either here already or in the mail. One thing i still need is a belt clip for the radio. Does anyone have a belt clip lying around for the xg100p? I already searched ebay and couldn't locate one. Thanks

Field replaceable parts and OEM accessories, that are specific to the XG-100P, and not shared with the XL portable radios, are not manufactured any longer and haven't been for quite some time.
