Gately Communication Co.

Sitting here at the Smithfield station out in the boat today, getting 451.6000, Color Code 1, on search and it’s flashing CAP. Only FCC info I could was Gately Communications

ULS License - Industrial/Business Pool, Conventional License - WPQJ313 - GATELY COMMUNICATION CO

---------------------

Gately is a major ISP radio system installer/maintainer for the Peninsula/Tidewater area. Although possible that Gately is the user, most likely the user is a Gately customer. Logging talk groups and trying to figure out from comms heard is about the only thing to do unless someone who knows for sure of the user provides the info.

Yea I’ve found lots of frequencies that have Gately but can’t identify them. There’s also a Gately trunked system with a tower in Smithfield, checking up on that too

Yes, I am aware of all of Gately's licenses. They are listed in my database. I met Mr. Gately about 20 years ago at the Richmond Frost Fest when I rented a vendor's table. He purchased several copies of my VA frequency directory. He told me he installed commercial radio systems in the Newport News area and was very pleased to get them because nothing comparable existed at that time.

The company doesnt use the tower in Smithfield, that would be a customer. I cant elaborate much more into detail but the Capacity+ system that just went up is 4 sites and coverage is almost identical to the LTR system map available on the web. You may also be able to hear the system in Smithfield but without a 40W mobile access and channel grant is limited unless you're talking into the peninsula sites.
