Here in Olympia, WA during the later evening hours I have been listening to a foreign language (not Spanish).
I am curious about where it might be located and the station call sign.
Any ideas?

I only log my hits by year. I have this logged as 2023, but I'm pretty sure this was in the past three months.

1550 AM Night time. Foreign & English language. At some point I heard "San Francisco and the Bay area". Per Radio-Locator.com, my log would be KZDG Radio Zindagi, San Francisco, CA, but I wasn't able to confirm the identity. R-L.com also shows the station format as Asian.

Based on your description and location, I suspect it is KKOV out of Vancouver, WA. The format is listed as "Ethnic"...whatever that means.

There also is a station out of the Bay Area that is Punjabi, KZDG, that sometimes shows up. But if you're in WA, it's probably a better chance you have KKOV (Viet, mostly) or KRPI Ferndale (Punjabi, Hindi, and overnights they play Sikh prayer chants).

Best MW search list is Wiki. Just search for "1550 AM". Generally it's pretty useful and up to date for the most part.

There are Wikis on every AM band frequency, I think.

If you can differentiate what language or style of music a foreign language station plays, that can also help ID a station in situations like this.

Weird station. Sometimes it appears they are speaking Spanish, other times non-Spanish with an Indian accent.

Some of the sounds of both languages are simlar to those of us who don't know the languages. I know quite a bit of Spanish but have been fooled by Punjabi before (and I know no Punjabi), when DXing, so it can happen.

I never used to use my DX-390 for MW, but lately I've been DXing with it, using a loop, and it's a great radio. Seems to drop off above 1600, though, in sensitivity, compared to other Sangean / Realistics. Great sound through headphones while DXing. Mine works better with an external loop, as I live in a hole.
