Is there anyone near southeast Wisconsin that is able to monitor 173.5875Mhz for this BEE00.966 P25 system? I'm trying to locate where this site is. I received this site/system in east central Indiana. This may be from the Wisconsin ANG base in Milwaukee. 173.5875 is a common Air Force frequency, and was noted as being in use in Milwaukee years ago, but was not a P25 system at that time. At the same time I was seeing this P25 system on SDR#/DSD+ I was seeing WISCOM 139Mhz sites, and listening to Chicago PD on UHF, so it's a good possibility that this BEE00.966 P25 system is from the Milwaukee area. Any help in locating this P25 system would be much appreciated.

Greetings,

I am in Milwaukee, pretty close to KMKE airport and not hearing anything on 173.5875 at the moment. Is this a control channel or conventional P25 radio traffic you are hearing on here? WI-ANG 128th ARW does (did?) use 173.5875, but RR database is showing P-25E so that is possibly why my radio hasn't picked it up in a while.

Tim, it's a P25 control channel.

I'm currently seeing the signal again, at this time (10:50 PM EDT) on SDR# as well.

A lot of times the database programming for Uniden scanners work against their owners. Uniden scanners ignore encryption, so if you have a 436, 536, or SDS your programming may already have that frequency listed as encrypted, and may ignore that frequency by default.

However, If you manually program 173.5875 as a conventional/analog FM channel in your scanner, then go to that channel and open the squelch, you'll either hear regular sounding 'white noise' (no signal received), or you'll hear a continuous computer/data type of noise (likely this P25 control channel).

I don't really use the "internet" feature when using ARC software to program my radios. I prefer to program the radio quick-keys myself. For a City/County that I am programming, I will usually include all licensed frequencies and not just what is listed on RadioReference.

As for the original post, I have had my base radio parked on 173.5875 for the last hour or so. I do hear P25 conventional transmissions (ENCRYPTED) on there with Nac 300 (TG 1). I do not receive anything for a WACN, though.
