Was playing with my new Pro-106 while visiting Boca and I've found a P25 control channel on 854.3625. System ID is 28D, Tower 105 and WACN of 09119. Pro96Com shows 851.1375 and 851.4125 as additional channels on the system. Anyone know who this system belongs to? I dont see anything in the database and there hasn't been any activity on the system that Ive seen. Thanks!

854.3625 is licensed to Juipter and they aren't P25. The other 2 are in the "new" NPSPAC band and according to the FCC database have been cleared.

I wonder if Motorola is playing with a system. They used to do the same with iDEN at FAU on the roof of their engineering building and used have a T-1 from the plant to the university. I say "used to" because I don't know if the equipment or circuit is still in place.

Ahh... thanks for the info. I found another P25 control channel in the 150mhz range (don't have the exact frequency in front of me at the moment). I think it showed the same system ID. It acts odd though... The 106 will stop on it and show the CC info, but won't break squelch (even though the decode rate is 99%). On my Pro-96 it will break squelch and show it as a P96 control channel, but won't display any info. Again Pro96Com doesn't show any activity, but shows several neighbour sites in the 850/860mhz range. Mysterys mysterys!

I wonder if you might be hearing the new Broward County Project 25 TRS? The system as it was proposed, called for Palm Beach County to join the system, so they could share costs, and save money by splitting the price tag with a neighbor. Some serious rumors were flying two years ago they were planning to go digital, but I haven't heard anything since then.

No idea... Both control channels come in 5/5 here in Boca Raton. When I return to Ft. Lauderdale airport on Saturday I'll see how the signal is there (or if I can locate any other associated channels).

You will probably need a correct table for your scanner, so it can decode and follow the VHF-high band site.

I was thinking the same thing, but in the 10 minutes or so that I let Pro96Com run it didn't show any other channels at all. I'll give it a try again here shortly.

This proposed P25 doesn't exist and PBC will continue to run its own 3600 cc system for quite a while as the system is only 7 years old.

If anything does become regional it will be 700 MHz P25 and not 800.

I'd bet long odds that you were hearing Motorola test systems. With the plant being right down the street, practically, it's more than a reasonable guess.

I'd expect it to be slightly different than an accepted P25 system as well. Probably it's running something
under development. Phase III, you might say.

I would say that you are probably correct, but its a bit more than "down the street". Boca is a good 10 to 15 miles from the plant in West-Central Broward County.

Like I said earlier, Motorola does have a test location in Boca on top of the FAU engineering building and used to have an operational iDEN system on the roof. That may be why its so strong in the local area.

That would make sense. Would also explain why it behaves 'oddly' on my Pro-96.
