Hi All,

With the discovery of the new Tempe 700mhz and White Tanks 700Mhz sites on the PRWN, I decided to search today to determine what other 700mhz stuff I would find.

I found the following data channels from South Phoenix:

769.1937 (Motorola P25 System 0286h-0103 BEE00) – 3 Bars on Handheld Antenna
772.9187 (Unknown system type) – 4 Bars on Handheld Antenna

Does anyone have any information on these systems?

Regards,

Joe

Joe,
Are you able to run Unitrunker against these signals to determine neighboring sites and frequencies?

772.91875 fits in to the Tempe 700mhz tower. If true, I'll need to add this freq as control channel too.

Thanks,

Hi John,

I have been meaning to set up Uni-Trunker for a while now, but I have not gotten to it yet. I will update you in a few days after I have set this up.

As far as 772.91875, this does fit with the Tempe freqs, but it is not the current control channel for the Tempe site. The Tempe control tower is currently 771.91875.

The data stream on 772.91875 is not recognized by my BCD396T showing a System and Site ID like P25 systems show. Also, the data sounds diffent than a P25 control channel.

Cheers,

Joe

ASU 700mhz system?

John and All,

I’m pretty sure the system 0286h-0103 BEE00 control channel 769.19375 is used by ASU. I have heard rumors in the past that ASU had moved to a 700mhz system, but until now, I was unaware of the frequencies of this system.

Here are some things that I have found:
The system is received with 5 bars from Southern and Rural in Tempe.
On talkgroup 8001, I have heard mentions of “Gammage” and “Walter Cronkite Building”.

I have set up Uni-Trunker and here is what I have discovered:

System BEE00-286
Site 001-003
Control 01-1150 (769.19375)

The system has 4 channels that I have captured:
769.19375
769.69375
769.94375
770.19375

Neighboring Sites:
System Site Control
BEE00-286 001-001 00-489
BEE00-286 001-002 00-1089
BEE00-286 001-004 00-1089
BEE00-286 002-005 00-0000

Groups identified:
8001 – ASU PD Dispatch ? - Radio traffic is not encrypted. It is definitely law enforcement. Units with callsigns like David-959, David-974, Edward-558, Tom-929, and William-562.
8002 – Encrypted

Cheers,

Joe

I've also heard the phrases you're describing. They seem to mostly start with "grid such-and-such" and are then followed by some wierd statement so are they doing some type of area testing for Tempe? I've heard that when they test, they broadcast a test signal they can monitor. With 772.91875 listed in the Tempe system, maybe it has a test signal on it?

As far as your mention of a trend, sounds encouraging that it's not ALL encrypted.

I created the system based on the information here, and found out after I pushed it out that another admin on RR had built the same system and pushed it out here:

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=5961

Sorry for the confusion. I am not able to edit my earlier remarks....

If you're within receiving range, you'll be able to hear the individual 700MHz frequencies with a PRO 96 as long as you've enabled the radio in that band via Win96 software. The scanner will NOT track the site as a trunked system - never designed to work with 700MHz trunked sites - and won't/can't be upgraded for the ability.

I understand the Uniden 396 and 996 as well as the new GRE500 & GRE600 all can.
