If you look on the FCC ULS under that callsign > locations, it says the status is P. @milf can correct me if I'm wrong but I think that means pending, which would indicate to me a tower isn't actually up it's just the license for it. I looked at a couple of others that I know are up and the status column was blank.

I know the license is from 2014. Perhaps they were considering their own system and then changed their mind?

I did an antenna search and didn't find anything as being erected in Madison Co other than the VHF tower and one for cellular, best I could tell. I know the db shows an AWIN site or two so perhaps that antenna search wasn't very accurate.

The P indicates primary protection status, not "pending".

S = Secondary protection status

Basically, if there should be any co-channel interference, the site that has protected status takes precedence. P is higher than S, which is higher than no protection status.

None of this answers the OP's question, but just some clarification nonetheless.

Good info. So back to the question at hand...do we think they licensed for something and then changed directions? Shows to be from 2014 but if there's nothing in place...

Only one way to get this info other than talking to them. Drive out there, and look. Also, just because there is a freq on a lic, does not mean it is in use 24/7. It could be an backup for AWIN, or a back tactical ch.

Also its set to analog emissions, and ONLY 2 freqs.... That says an flavor of LTR, and also very rare for any new analog stuff, so is interesting.

I know this thread is old, but the SO, while they have the gear (They all have AWIN Radios) do not use this 800 MHz system. It's nothing more than a piece of paper in a filing cabinet. Instead they use the 462.400 WPTG413 Repeater at that tower. That license is for a Business pool license, for use "around the farm." The applicant of that is then leasing out the repeater. Kinda seems like abuse of the FCC rules to me.

It looks like that license is expired anyhow. Hopefully the SO will get their own equipment under their own license.
