I Live Around The Winchester Area And Have Detected Two Edacs Wide Control Frequencies, 138.5125 And 142.6000. I Am New To Edacs Monitoring And Was Wondering If Anyone Had Any Info On This System Or How I Can Find The Other Freqs And Lcn Order, I Have Not Found Any Of These Frequencies In Any Online Database That I Have Searched.

Preliminary info

From the frequencies you supplied it is likely a military installation. What military bases are within 30 mi (or less) of your location?

142.6 is a part of the Naval District of Washington EDACS site at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. 138.5125 is suspected to be another site in the system but I've never heard any confirmation of where the site may be. Information on this system is not available on RR but try Google.

I too think it may be Mt. Weather. I plugged in those freqs and happened to be in the vicinity today. I believe it was the 138.5125 freq that my scanner lock onto (I was riding my motorcycle at the time and the noise was annoying me so I locked out that bank). I had just passed the road the goes to Mt. Weather from Rt7 and then turned onto Snickersville Turnpike. I had gone through Winchester a short while earlier and heard nothing on those freqs. Once further east I again scanned the bank with those freqs and got nothing. It's not a real strong signal.

I have found a few more frequencies within the govt band that may be related to this system: 139.7750, 142.4000, and 143.5000. These are voice channels, still not sure who they belong to, either mt. weather or the army corps of engineers building in winchester, we also have a national guard center. I will continue to find out more..

thanks to eric about the naval district connection, I will research that angle more, I found your website with the ndw trs, very useful

I went to Mt. Weather today to see what I could hear. Initially 142.6 was the active cc. It stopped and 138.5125 became active until I left the area. I was first able to hear 142.6 at Rt7 and Blueridge Mt. Rd. As I traveled south the signal was in and out. The signal was the strongest just south of the facility. I stopped on the side of the road a little further south and searched 135-150.

I don't know if it's related, but I received some strange sounding voice on 144.225 and 144.175. At first I thought maybe the modulation was wrong, so I tried others. But no change of modulation makes it clear. It sounds like a recording of some sort. I can hear it in Leesburg too. Listening from Mt. Weather the recording(?) sounded towards the end like some phonetics then "contact". I've tried bracketing the freqs and they still seem to be 144.225 and 144.175.

Audio clip of what's on 144.175

I have had some luck with one of the unkown edacs freqs, 142.6000 is a part of the NDW TRS. I still am not sure about 138.5125, so I am just going to monitor any voice channels that I pick up in that band. So far the active frequencies in the winchester area are: 140.5000 nfm military police, 139.7750 nfm military police, 142.4000 nfm, 143.5000 nfm, 143.9875 nfm, 139.0625 nfm, and 139.9625 nfm. all can be heard on normal fm mode as well.
let me know what you hear if you are in the area..
