Ideally Uniden should revamp the displayed information. Many P25, DMR and NXDN systems have encrypted users. The ALGID and KID are sent either on the CC or the VC. It would be an easy edit to the FW to add displaying this information on the main screen. CFT does this so technically Uniden should be able to duplicate the code. Having the option to mute or unmute the ENC is easy as well in fact Uniden could make it a user selectable option on a TG basis if they wanted to.

This work is a lot easier to add rather than the more complex adding or fixing DRM decode issues.

Uniden needs a reason for people to buy their future products. This could be one of those reasons.
This "reason" would be so far down the list of "features" that it wouldn't barely even register. Uniden still can't manage get P25 trunking priority monitor/preemptive priority right, a much more usable feature, and yet they just released another brand new flagship model without it.

RR members tend to be very myopic when it comes to stuff like this. What they don't take into account is that 90% of scanner sales are Bob and Betty who just want to hear their local yokels talking on the radio. They don't care about hearing static or busy tones for encrypted talkgroups, in fact that would be a negative "feature" to the majority of people who buy these scanners.

Sure, it would be nice if Uniden made it an option, but it's a very small percentage of users who would actually care about it.

Again, I'm not wanting to "log" anything. I'm wanting to HEAR when encrypted TGs are in-use.
Your best route is to use the alternate firmware identified a couple posts above (OpenScanner).
I installed it on my BCD436hp out of curiosity, and I can confirm that it allows you to *hear* encrypted TGs.
Once identified, if you ever want to « monitor » them, I find it less disruptive to apply a -3 as a volume offset, and I personally add led flashing and alarm sound to specific TGs of interest.
I still don’t know what the users are talking about, but I can at least « monitor » the traffic density per TG…

Personally I'd find that more of a nuisance than a benefit on a Uniden. I prefer DSD+ for documenting encryption but, different strokes for different folks. With that said in ID Search mode on the x36HPs and SDSx00s as long as you don't have them programmed in and avoided you should see encrypted talkgroups briefly flash up on the screen for a half second with the words ENC or ENCRY towards the top of the screen.
Ditto, although I usually use Pro96Com for logging P25 systems and logging talkgroups.

I've thought about giving that aftermarket firmware a try, although I would never do it on a scanner while it's in warranty. Now that I have the SDS150, I'm tempted to put that firmware on my SDS100 and play around with it.
