What is 4K00F1E, 11K2F3E, and 20K0F3E. I know it has to do with analog, digital, data, narrowband, ect... Just don't know which one is which.

looks as tho they're gonna go digital when they switch to the 6.25 spacing

The AAR is supposedly behind NexEdge as the industry standard. I'm hearing that the push is to skip the 12.5 KHz transition and go straight to 6.25 KHz.

I'm thinking you will find stiff resistance to that from the class I railroads. That would require the sudden replacement of hundreds of thousands of transmitters, just on one railroad.


they have been planning on the 12.5khz change, new portables are capable of that... New portables that cost ALOT of money that still have alot of use left in them.

Let me rephrase that, there is a recent push to start buying 6.25 KHz compliant radios instead of settling on 12.5 KHz radios, since the transition to 6.25 KHz is not that far away. Testing of tri-mode radios is supposed to commence in Fort Worth, Seattle, and parts of Southern California.

What frequency does a DPU run on? I've never looked for it.

There are four DPU frequencies.
452.925 Channel 1
452.950 Channel 2
457.925 Channel 3
457.950 Channel 4
