LCD is implementing changes to its radio system, with a planned cutover during the week of March 24, 2025. Please review the following updates and ensure compliance with the new system requirements.

Radio System Changes:

  • LCD Dispatch: This channel will be listen-only. Field units will no longer be able to transmit, and transmissions should be disabled.
  • LCD Response: A new repeaterized channel that must be added to your lineup.
  • LCD Command: This channel will be converted to a repeaterized system and will require reprogramming.

Use of CLMRN 700/800 Radio TAC Channels:

  • TAC 1 & TAC 2: Designated as additional coordination channels. LCD can monitor these channels, which will be assigned at the incident commander's request.
  • TAC 3-13: LCD will assign these channels at the incident commander's request. Similar to scene channels, LCD does not monitor these channels.

Radio Programming Requirements:

  • Transmission Timeout: Radio transmission timeout must not exceed 30 seconds.
  • MDC Requirement: Radios must send a pre-transmit MDC. Radios without MDCs are not permitted on the system.
  • Emergency Alerts: Alerts will be transmitted over the active channel.
  • Dispatch Channel: Receive-only (RX); transmission (TX) must be disabled.
For your convenience, a detailed frequency list is attached to assist with reprogramming. Please ensure these changes are implemented before the cutover date.

Please forward this message to any services you have mutual aid agreements with to ensure neighboring department radios are correctly programmed.

is the new Response channel going to be a voted repeater system in the same way dispatch is now or will all traffic be heard within the listening area? Also will this affect the CLMRN talkgroups? I know there is a Response TG on the system but I never see it used
