Upcoming Scanning Presentation in Columbus, GA...

I would like to extend an invitation to anyone who might be interested in the topic of radio scanning around Columbus, GA to join us at the Columbus Amateur Radio Club's monthly meeting in September. The club meets every second Thursday of the month at the Macon Road Library in the main auditorium from 6:30PM to 8:00PM. The September meeting will be held on 8SEP11. I will be putting on a small presentation about scanning. For those of you that do not know, I am one of the local Motorola techs that support and maintain the BC26 800MHz trunking system. I plan to cover some of the local things that are out there to listen to and also I will answer any questions that may be asked. I also plan to demonstrate live how you can use an analog receiver and a Linux PC running DSD to decode and listen to local Mototrbo systems (along with some information on who locally has Mototrbo systems). Please spread the word about this event. I will see you there!

Barry:

Thanks for the invitation. I used to live in Columbus and still come down to Auburn-Opelika area on regular basis. I may try to come. FYI - AllComm out of Bham is about to convert Auburn Public Safety to a VHF MOTOTRBO.

So apparently this meeting is not going to be at the Macon Road library, but rather the Armour Road North Branch library. Please take note if you plan to attend. Thank you.

I apologize to anyone that was interested in attending this event. My coworker passed away recently and I am stuck with extra work commitments and I will not be able to speak at this club meeting. The club is still going to be meeting for it's regular business. If you are in the Columbus area I encourage you to go and meet some of the guys. I will be doing this presentation at a future club meeting, but I can't say for sure how far out at this time. I will post the information when it all comes together. Expect this to happen sometime in the next six months.
