Update and question re pineville PD frequencies

OK, so far here's what I have on pineville and what I would like to know: pineville PD has two TG id's on the meck co. TRS 25968 and 26000, neither of which do they ever use. it has been said that they used 155.5800 and 851.4125. Also it was said they use TG id 62785 on the meck co. TRS. I am begining to doubt they even talk at all. heh. I can't ever seem to hear them. If anyone is close enough to Pineville to have actually heard trans. from them recently and knows the acurate info pleeeaaas let me know. I've been looking for them for a while. I will say this, not proud of it but a while back i was pulled over by a Pineville PD officer. He asked me to come back and sit in his car . As I sat there I had a look around to see if I saw anything interesting. At that point I didnt really know what was what. However, I did notice that they had this ridiculous telephone in their car. It looked like a regular pay-phone handset that was black and was conneted to the radio i believe. I assumed it was just some very ancient technology and thought it sort of amusing. (of course i didnt tell him that) anyone know what that was?

I'VE NEVER HEARD THEM ON THE CMPS SYSTEM EITHER, NOR HAVE I HEARD THEM ON VHF. AS FAR AS I KNOW THEY USE 800 CONVENTIONAL REPEATERS. TRY 851.5375 TOO. I HAVE HEARD THEM ON THE 800 FREQ JUST CAN'T REMEMBER WHICH ONE. YOU MAY WANT TO TRY THE 800 MHZ COMMON TAC FREQS AS WELL. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DON'T USE THE CMPD SYSTEM.

I'm 8 miles from their PD tower. I can confirm 851.4125 / DPL 054 (dispatch) and 155.580 / DPL 503 (tac 5).

The latter frequency is also used by them - without a tone - for their MDTs ... you can also hear the data bursts on the frequency.

There is also tac 4 - 155.010 MHz. I presume they use DPL 503 on this channel, but have never heard it in use (only confirmed verbally with officers).

I don't usually monitor Meck Co law enforcement, but I had a good conversation with one of their officers about two months ago at Stanly County Community College (the Locust campus) regarding their current communications use, and their future trunked system. He mentioned that they occasionally use their talkgroups on the CMPD system.

When you lift the handset off-hook, it disables the radio speaker. The purpose is to allow some privacy if the officer has a subject "detained" in the car. For instance, dispatch can inform the officer about warrants the subject may have, without the subject being aware.

The NCHP is another agency that has used the handsets. They are ancient-looking, but hold up to alot of abuse ... much more durable than the handsets on consumer phones nowadays.

You might be too young to remember having one of those ancient handsets on the home telephone, but I imagine that, if the cord is long-enough, they also make a good tool for subduing an unruly detainee in the patrol car :lol:

the /\/\ 800 STX portable radio used just 5 years ago by law enforcement & fire/EMS in Char-Meck also doubled as a handy noggin-knocker if necessary.

good radio with a good transmitter and sensitive receiver. just very awkward to carry, especially with the STX (dipole) antenna.

Ahhh, the good ol STX (or sticks as they were more well known as). I had one on the Salisbury TRS for a long time. My 3 in 1...... Radio, Forcible Entry Tool, and Deadly Weapon.
