Make sure you select the correct COM port in your software (Sentinel) as well.

Sentinel has no settings for COM ports. When Sentinel is communicating with the scanner, the scanner should be in "Mass Storage" mode... which treats the scanner as a mass storage device connected by USB, just like an external drive. No serial COM ports are involved.

When connected in mass storage mode, the scanner's SD card will be listed under "Disk Drives" in the Windows Device Manager along with the other drives in the computer.

If a COM port is showing for the scanner in Windows Device Manager, the scanner has been put in "Serial Mode", and won't be able to communicate with Sentinel.

apparently Uniden doesn't repair their own product.

I appreciate the response, nothing has worked and apparently Uniden doesn't repair their own product. Happy New Year to ya

I just had a HP1 repaired (Nov 22) and have a HP2 and another HP1 I will be sending in shortly.
