I live in Los Angeles where there's a lot of radio traffic. I notice little new activity when I update my HP2's database. How about you guys? Do you update every Monday morning or less often?

Unless new frequencies or systems have been implemented, you will not hear any new activity.

Updating every Monday is superfluous unless you have a new local system with new talkgroups coming on line or something similar.

I update every month or so, but since I use favorites lists, I generally just add the new groups manually.

There's ten Million people in my county. Keeping track of what's new or even changed is.... tricky. That's why I asked.

The RR database color codes can give you an idea as to what has recently been changed for the database in your area:

California Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Green = updated in the last 24hrs - yellow = updated in the last week.

Click on the colored counties in the map and scroll down through the listings to see where the colored changes apply.

Keep this post in mind if you can't find any obvious changes:

Correct.

You can see the very few changes that are shown by reviewing this. You don't need to keep track of it yourself.

By reviewing, you can also see the potential of this week's download to have any effect on your listening.

I see what you mean. I expected a lot more changes. I figured with the popularity of Hpme Patrol scanners there would be more submissions.

Well that sure sucks.

Thanks folks.

Actually, I think you will find that the database stays very current with any changes that are truly happening.

The community of scanner listeners do a better job than you, me, or any professional outfit could do. You will find this to be true over time.

If you happen to come across something in your area that has been missed by the community, you are invited to submit updates to the database to RR. They will become part of what you update on Mondays.
