None of the folks I know down there can confirm or deny that. If they do remove it it would be awesome. I wouldn't bet on full removal though, I would put my money on only dispatch being opened. Tacticals etc would (and should) stay encrypted. Would also be a good precedent to show to say... Little Rock, AR and most of SELA? :) Not to mention none of the FD's are E at all are they?

I agree that not everything should be public, however it would be good to have some of the channels open. If anyone hears anything please let us know.

It's my understanding that everything on the system for Jones County was encrypted, does anyone in the area have a scanner that monitor this?

ONLY LE is encrypted in Jones County. Schools are TDMA, and FD is in the clear on FDMA.

Yes, by various listeners and submissions and logs from Pro96Com etc.

I heard from a good source last week that they were, but was not sure if it happened yet.
What type of scanner is needed to pick up Jones CO. or the MSWIN?

Using the Jones County 800 Forrest County 800 sites, Any P25 capable scanner will work to hear the Phase 1 TG's. To hear the Phase 2 stuff you will need one of the following: GRE PSR-800, Uniden BCD 436/536HP, Uniden HP-2, Uniden BCD996P2, or 325P2, Whistler WS 1080 WS 1095. To hear the 700 MHz sites you will need anything newer than the RS PRO-96/2096 era scanners.

So is there one handheld that is capable of picking up everything?

Yes, the following:

Whistler: WS1080 (Whistler's updated version of the GRE PSR800)
GRE: PSR-800
Uniden: BCD436HP, BCD325P2

Those HH's do P25 Phase 2 (TDMA), and can do 700 MHz.

Just added Jones SO secondary dispatch,... It is in the clear. So apparently there are some open minds there.

Would a PRO-651 work?

I'm not sure why they don't encrypt just the special operations and Drug Enforcement and leave Dispatch open.
