Curious about these "Talk Around' frequencies.
What repeaters are they "talking around"? Don't see them listed as repeater output frequencies anywhere. Is it just the county's language for simplex?
It's just how they refer to it.

How did you determine the RX frequencies? If you keyed up the radio w/ close call or something, you found the TX frequencies (transmitting).
I'm fully aware of that. These were given to me, to fill in what little bit I didn't have.

Grog ... what distinguishes fire tac 1 from fire talk-around 2 (both 154.265 / 107.2 simplex) ?
As far as I can tell, Just a name.
I can only guess that "Fire TA 2" was named that way when they put the 159.165 repeater in service. I think the "Fire Tac" channels were added not too long ago. It was probably just easier to add the new name to an exsisting channel assighment to go along with the other two TAC channels. It's really an interesting way to add them, and I like the idea. I can now hear a Tac channel assigned and can tell what part of the county it is without hearing who has the call.

Any idea what county fire is using 465.600 for ? I would think data, but I don't see anything to indicate such. Also, Gaston County L-E is licensed for 460.600.
Not sure. I always suspected some sort of low-power directional linking freq, but I haven't programmed it in a long time. I'll add it to my scanlist and see what I get.

Also curious about the following:
- 153.860 / Denver FD ... PL tone ?
That's licenced to the county, and I should be able to shed some light on that soon.

- 158.985 ... input to 154.815 ? PL tone ?
I'm 99.9% sure that freq is correct, and the tone is correct as well. I'll confirm this week though.

- 155.820 ... use and tone ? Base is located at Boger City VFD ... have only heard personnel paging, using carrier squelch
Boger City moved about a year or two ago, so that was probably on the water tower behind their old building at the (old) "Boger City Sanitary District". That shows how long I've lived here LOL Anyway, that building was last used as one of the EMS stations before Lincoln finished the new station next to the Sheriff's Department.
That freq is something else I'm still working on IDing, so that should be finished soon.

I hope the HTs had 158.8275 / 107.2 programmed as narrowband. Caldwell County Schools use a repeater on 158.820 / 107.2, with the input being 153.860 / 107.2, so Caldwell County might potentially affect 2 Lincoln County fire channels.
Thanks,
Jeff Multer
I would hope so as well, but I've never actually heard it used. The Channel numbers listed in my 1st post shows where they are programmed in the Ht1250s they use.
If there's anything else you need to know, let me know. I still have to confirm the Pl for City PD Ch 8 (453.175). Everytime I hear them, I forget to look at my scanner
