Folks I have new Phase II equipment and have been sending some updates in to the admin regarding the fairly new Georgia Tech Phase II Digital system. I have added the second control channel that was missing and it has been added to the database. The database currently contains the wrong RFSS and Site Info (you must have this correct in order to use a G4/G5 Unication unit and possibly some consumer grade scanners. The correct info is RFSS 10 and Site 10 if you aren't receiving the system using the old values of 1 and 001. I wanted to bounce that off the group before submitting. I am properly trunking the system now way off in Cobb county.

Also, sadly I believe I have to report Ga Tech PD has encrypted again...they moved over to the system from the Atlanta TRS (which was in the clear) and are currently encrypted on tg 351 (which is not in the database yet). I have NOT heard Georgia Tech PD on the Atlanta TRS lately so I don't think this is a coincidence. Also i'm getting an in the clear talkgroup is 301 (something to do with students) but I haven't listed enough to figure out what it is....it is not in the database yet either, wanted to wait and see what it could be. Again, you must have a phase II scanner to hear this system.Thoughts?

Is every agency in metro Atlanta now getting their own trunked system? So many overlap now - Atlanta, MARTA, Ga Tech, Fulton County, North Fulton, Airport, UASI, etc. What's next, fire, police and public works building their own system? Tax dollars to burn, I guess.

Using the database info with a Uniden 536 I see a strong signal but hear nothing. And that is with ID search on.

UASI ISSI Talkgroups

The UASI system has been decommissioned late last year. Replaced with an ISSI connection between various systems. In our tests it works well. There are now 10 UASI ISSI talk groups with console presence at various metro 911 centers.

Programming of supported subscribers is (and has been) underway.

Eric,

Are these "10 UASI ISSI talkgroups" monitorable? If so, how?

they're not encrypted at this time.

you'll need to search for them when they are active. They run through our cores as foreign talkgroups, so I don't know how a scanner will interpret the foreign talk group presence on the CC.

Not much activity on them currently, but that will be changing over the next few months, especially around the first of the year.

Fair to assume they have different talkgroup numbers on each participating system but are nevertheless linked?

Which systems are participating?

So to monitor these, I would need to have each of these separate trunked systems programmed in the scanner and the talk group would be the same, just on different trunked systems?

These tgs are rarely used if ever, they have been available to use for years... i heard them come up once and someone was stepping through them doing radio checks when they were first on the Cobb and UASI overlay.

Correct. Same way one monitors a multi-zone system such as VIPER in North Carolina. Same concept, except ISSI connects disparate systems and pipes talk groups over them. Only when radios actively affiliated on foreign sites will cause the foreign talk group to have an RF presence on that site.

They are intended for command and control during large incidents. We have used them on the old (now decommissioned) overlay when performing maintenance on our system and we had to reset site routers and other fun stuff. It was nice to have a backup, but we have other resources in our radios now for that purpose.

hey MTS, you have any fond memories of iDen/SouthernLinc radios?? They make for great target practice now...unless maybe a H.E.R.O. driver still has one on their belt.

We have an i365 in our 911 center. On the new "GINLINK", supposed to be history by end of the year, iDEN that is. SL is wrapping up rolling out LTE in place of. They've already turned up Alabama.
