To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all,

I have been trying to figure out what the process is if there is any on how to update the FLASHcode on my APX7500 to add TDMA Trunking. I already have FDMA but the system we use here is TDMA and unless I'm on the channel, I don't get audio from it. Any sight in this matter would be much appreciated since I need to get this done ASAP. This is the option I need added is GA00580 Its for TDMA Operations.

Thank You in Advanced!

The APX7500 is out of support and has been since 2022, so good possibility that a factory flash update for TDMA or anything else, with the exception of a MACE enhancement with a keyloader, is NLA.

My Motorola rep advised that TDMA flashes for 7500’s are not possible because it is a discontinued product.

What firmware revision are you running on it?

Call your motorola dealer and ask them to order you a TDMA flash for the radio. Chances are, if its a reputable dealer, you'll have to provide some sort of documentation that the radio is autorized on this tdma system. But whatever motorola dealer your agency is assigned to can order you the flash.

Nope, as has already been stated, the 7x00 is EOL and MSI will no longer provide FLASH upgrades for the series.

MSI just recently declined to provide FLASH upgrades to add Tone Signaling to a batch of APX 7000s for a local agency, citing EOL. Strange how there seems to be inconsistencies in results.

It depends on your account manager's "pull". :p

Yeah, and how much money you fork over to MSI each year and have to remind them of that to get things done.

End of repair support, with the exception of the APX7000 in UHF that ended in 2021 and the APX7000L that ended in 2022, ended in 2023 so it could have been pushed through, but I'm sure not done widely or advertised and looks to have been done to just one radio. Duplicated efforts are not guaranteed. Good luck though!
