I live in Anchorage AK and I have a Pro-95 scanner for now! I have been reading a little on the forums and I think Im leaning towards a GRE-PSR500 digital scanner! Now my question is do I really need a Digital scanner for my area? I really dont know what the LE/Fire ect.... all use around here. I may be missing alot of action and dont even know it...lol Thanks

First off, welcome to RR, check the database section & click on Alaska, then click on Anchorage & you should find all the frequencies for just about all the services you seek. Also check www.cityfreq.com click on Alaska Then click on the four sites for Anchorage, it has a comprehensive list of agency frequencies for your area, and last but not least check the FCC Genmen database for any existing or updated frequencies for Anchorage City, surrounding county & state agencies that may not reflect in the RR database yet: www.fcc.gov. If you are into trains, Dave, a RR member has a website that has the frequencies for the Alaska Railroad: www.dpdproductions.com There is an interesting article about the railroad here: www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Railroad & if aviation is your thing, go to www.airnav.com/airports & click on Alaska on the airports by state column, don't forget Alaska has it's own ARTCC (Air Route Traffic Control Center-ZAN) it's in the RR database for Alaska, or if boats get you going, go here: www.navcen.uscg.gov Anything more specific or that I haven't addressed will be answered by someone more knowlegable then I in short order, again, welcome, take some time & explore the site, good luck & take care.
