I live here in Wake County, NC and was wondering if I am missing anything as far as broadcasts in my area. Although it was painful to finally update my scanners data base to the latest and greatest, could I still be missing something that this old unit is not providing for me. Went through the various post on this site, but not sure I got my head wrapped around everything. New "toys" are always fun to have, but is this unit still providing everything I would need for Wake County. Thank you to anyone that responds to this. Have a great Labor Day Monday.

With the exception of the two state prisons in Raleigh (NXDN low power) and a few DMR systems (for Shaw College and a growing number of businesses) the PRO-96 does still work for the county/city system in Wake County.

There are some 700 MHZ VIPER towers that are now 700 MHZ (NCSHP Training Center in Wake Co) that the scanner will not pickup.

Thank you for your response. I had stepped away from using the Pro-96 for many many years, I thought I would fire it up and update it. It seem chatter then I remember so I figured it must be holding its own considering how old this unit is. Thanks Again.

The Pro-96 is out of production. Unless you can find a firmware update somewhere. I think you are out of luck, trying to update it.

The last firmware for this unit I believe is 1.4 which I found on the net ( It's out there). I have the Radioshack USB Scanner/PC Interface Cable 20-047. The pain came from having my Windows 10 computer recognize the cable. Once it did, the newest firmware was applied (turns out I already had it on there) then I used arc96 software to to get me up to date as 09/01/2021. Raleigh PD/Sheriff/Ems/ Fire Department seem to working well. Like N1GAW stated, No 700 MHZ but I can't miss what I don't have. lol

Glad to hear it is working for you, but don't put away the ARC96 software just yet, within the next several months Wake TRS should be changing to P25 with a new CC and alt cc. It is currently in testing phase now using the GoRaleigh and GoWake TGs. For updates watch the thread below.

Thank you for the heads up. As a side note it's been kind of interesting getting back into scanning/listening to Wake County. The Pro-96 seems to be crisp with audio and I swear there has been a lot more "things" to receive/listen to. Now of course that darn "buy something new" is nipping at me. Perhaps something with some 700 Mhz under the hood.:LOL: .. Must keep my cool. lol
