If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have some XPR7350E's that have not been updated for a few years and still under the older CPS and firmware. I am not able to update firmware with the newer CPS 2.0. What I have seen is I need to update to the latest firmware prior to the switch to CPS 2.0, but you are not able to find that on the Motorola website anymore.

Any suggestions on this, am I thinking this correct?

Thanks

You need to do 2.09 to 2.10 and then you can upgrade to anything past that. But I warn you that if you don't need to upgrade to 2.10, you probably shouldn't.

The oldest version I can still download from Motorola is 2.110.120.0. So not sure where I get 2.09.

Thanks

That's the CPS version not firmware. 2.09 is not on there.

You would need MOTOTRBO CPS 16.0 Build 828 (Standalone) first then download MOTOTRBO NA Commercial Devices Release R02.10.10 and flash the radio. After that you will need to use CPS 2.0 and pay for/apply a SUM (Software Update Management) license to the radio, then you can update to the latest firmware, MOTOTRBO NA Commercial Devices Release M2021.03 or perhaps older if a radio is not an 'e' model.

As K2NEC said, unless you need to upgrade you probably shouldn't. Most people prefer to stick with CPS 16 and it's final firmware revision 2.09

Did you mean the MOTOTRBO NA Professional Devices Release R02.10.10, because that has the XPR7000e series radio in it. The Commercial Device Release only lists the CP200 and SL300. Thanks

I have the CPS 16.0 build 828 installed now and also installed the Release R02.10.10. However when I go to the CPS and try to update it gives me a message that no matching packages exist.

Did you install the firmware packages? And you still haven't answered  why you want to upgrade the firmware

Yeah, I tried that also, same error, no matching packages exist. I am just deleting all the contacts, channels etc. manually. Thanks

Yes sorry I got the Commercial and Professional series backwards. And again, I'd take K2NEC's advice. They are worth more used with 2.09 or less in them.

Not compatible -- You need at R2.09. build if you want CPS 16..0 Build 828 Otherwise, you need a CPS2_2.18.95.0 or Newer.

CPS will support older firmware as it's mostly backward compatible, whereas it will never support newer firmware.

If I was able to program radio then I would just make a new simple codeplug with a few simplex channels, radio ID to 1 and reshoot radio for purposes of cleaning up radio for sale. Deleting anything from existing plug is tediously slow so just make new from scratch.

I appreciate the input on this. I just went ahead and created a simple codeplug for them. I had CPS 16 828, but my firmware was older, so I must have at some point needed to upgrade to newer firmware when they still had it available. I have not looked at these radios for probably four years or so.

You can't do that on MotoTRBO unless you saved the original codeplug somewhere or do a recovery.
