I'm new to using the ARC 500 scanner programming software, but have figured out how to use it with no problems. But is there anything I need to do to the radio setting wise before uploading the freqs?

Just plug up the cable and turn on the radio and upload via the program. After your done uploading I suggest saving your programming in a V-Folder (FUNC+PROG) for a backup.

Well Ive uploaded a trunked system via ARC 500 to my radio, with the cable connected and it said that the upload was complete. However I cannot find my upload in the scanner. Any suggestions as to what to do next? I did check to make sure the cable was plugged in all the way, everything was good.

Just asking a silly question, but are you aware that an upload replaces all objects? There is no partial uploading. Entering data into ARC 500 defaults to scanlist 01 unless you change it. Does that help?

Just like trsundstrom says, when you send it to the scanner it replaces what was programmed to what you just sent it. It is ready to go when you upload it to the scanner.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware that upload of a trunked system replaces all objects. With that being the case, why is it that I cannot see my upload when I search through my scanner?

During upload do you see a progress bar on the scanners display?
if not check the usb/com port setting in the upload window and make sure the usb driver is properly installed.

Whatever you have programmed (showing) in the software is what is sent to the scanner. Nothing more, nothing less. If you just sent one trunking system to the scanner, then that is all you will have on it. If you are looking for the stuff that was on it before you programmed the scanner, it gets erased when you send the upload to the scanner. You will see the upload progress status on the scanner when you are uploading it. If you dont see that you have other problems.

Well I got the upload issue taken care of. The problem was that I selected the wrong usbcom option in the software.

Anyway when I upload something additional, why is everything that I already programmed going to get erased? Or at least someone mentioned that in a previous reply if I'm remembering correctly.

When you read from the radio everything is read. When you send to the radio everything is sent. The content you work with in the software is everything. It isn't just a few changes. The data contains every object and setting. So if it doesn't include something previously in there it won't be there when you send.
