So far the HP1 P25 decode seems pretty good, however, the scanner seems to hang without opening the squelch. Need to compare to my 436HP and 996XT.

Where I live Montgomery County MD P25 is very often motorboating as the decode threshold is way different than many of the other surrounding areas.

I may also go ahead and replace the USB port on the radio and install my narrower IF filter tomorrow if I have time. Finally have a reason to start playing with the HP1 a bit more with the newer firmware.

I got my first Uniden's about 8 months back,I made a pile of profit off Bitcoin and decide to splurge.
They were the 996XT and 396XT. New out of the boxes..And Im very happy with that decision.

I considered the HP1 until I read of the Extreme Upgrade.It was a depressing turn off looking at the prospect of forking out 500,then another 100 to get -Extras- that,I feel were turning their buyers into
cows for the milking.It would have cost Uniden minimal expense to provide the -Extreme- features.
Instead they took the road that was more profitable.And lost my,and Im sure others business.

Then the X36 series came out,and it seemed like they, to a degree had no care for their customers.
I came close to selling my GRE800 to get theX36 handheld,but quickly pulled my ad for sale..I love the look and feel of the X36's but Id prefer function over looks.

Im hoping sometime soon I stop reading the,what seems like alot of unhappiness with the products.

I do understand the R&D aspect,and the costs related to that.But perhaps the focus ought to be building and maintaining customer satisfaction,which leads to brand loyalty and in turn-long term profits-and the stock holders Love that.

Just my own thoughts and feelings on this matter.Again,I do hope they work out the bugs and fulfill the advertised options with this and future products.But alas,with GRE off the scene and Whistler dragging their knuckles with the former GRE line it seems like we are at their mercy.

To add,Im happy I did not sell the 800,regardless of the absence of any firmwaare updates,or software updates,to me its still a great radio.I can only hope Whistler provides some support.But I wont count on it.

That is funny.

An occasional update from Uniden would be nice, even if it's only to acknowledge that setbacks have been encountered and are being addressed.

The silence is deafening . . .

I fully agree. Little update just letting us know every two or so weeks would be great. I don't think it's too much to be asking for.

But I don't understand how their security camera can be viewed live over an app but be having so much trouble with this. Maybe it's different I don't know.

I have never heard anyone talking about Talking to the real Bosses at Uniden.... you know the TOP.. there are two new ones... I am sure they want to make a good impression... Talking to a Low end manager is not working go to the top.

Such a Heavy Burden of Travel, Food, Sights and Glory.. Not to Mention the Ego of being the only person at Uniden that can setup a Tent... We all my have our Priorities... And we must assume that he is doing a Great job with is.

Paul's job requires him to travel. Jealous much? You must be, it's all you seem able to discuss.

Here's a suggestion, which I know you won't heed but it feels good to get it off my chest: Maybe you should save this sort of childish neenering for the Uniden Tavern where, while it's not all that welcomed, it's at least tolerated. I can't speak for the mods here but I'm sure they're already sick of dealing with you on a near daily basis. It would be nice if guys like you could take a hint and just go find something else to do with your time instead of look for threads about Uniden scanners so you can up your Paul Opitz insult count. Please consider it.

It's got to be soon. A new update just went out the door yesterday for the HP-1 that fixes some issues that are also present in the x36 models. I think Paul is making sure the HP-1 users don't report any issues and then (hopefully) those fixes will then make their way into the x36 firmware along with other goodies folks are waiting for, such as the now infamous Analyze mode for the 436.
