That's interesting to note buddrousa.....I can easily get 8+ hours from my 7inch tablet running DSD+. For my 10inch tablet it's at least 12 hours. I specifically chose them for long battery life though. I'd say I'd be lucky to get 6 or 7 on the 436 with a good set of alkalines. The TRX1 is maybe 2 or 3 times this, but as you know it's running 4 AA cells.

My 436 using the same age same brand aa batteries last longer than my TRX-1 Pro-18 or Pro-668
I get 10 plus hours with my 436 and 6 to 8 hours with my TRX-1 Pro-18 or Pro-668 scanning the same system DURACELL 2500 rechargeables charged in my MAHA C801D charger

I have a portable SDR set up that I use in my truck. However, I don't use in my truck while driving because it's not a scanner.

It works well for hunting down systems that are out of the range of my home set up, but it couldn't replace a scanner even if I could use it truly mobile. After all, a SDR set up is only going to be good for one system at a time. It's not a multi band scanner with all of the features of a scanner.

I consider them two different types of tools for two different functions.

If SDR solutions were portable, then the scanner market would start to feel an impact from them.
