Short story is the 396xt just stops working. Looks like it's scanning, but no transmissions. The scanner will also stop responding to the computer, while attached with the USB cable. If you take the batteries out of the radio and unplug the radio, wait a few minutes, then reassemble, the radio will work 100% again.
I had sent mine in for repair. I did not include the batteries to save on shipping, so natually, when Uniden tech got a hold of it, it worked fine ( becuase batteries and power had been pulled ).
I'm told this has been happening to a couple other users as well ( "texwon" was one I guess ).
What can be done to resolve this problem? I do not want to pull batteries and power as needed.
