Also try 122.775 MHz. This frequency is used by Fed Ex feeder companies such as Mountian Air Cargo ect. I hear aircraft quite frequently on this frequency nightly. Mountian Air Cargo flys from Rickenbacker Airport and heads South to Hunington and Charleston West Va to pick up packages and take them back to Rickencacker.
Since where on the subject of air cargo, try 128.850 MHz. It's used by Airborne Express out Wilmington

Hey all,
I found a new frequency if anybody is interested in it.
131.925MHz
Used by Mountian Air Cargo as their company channel. They seem to be using it at Rickenbacker and they were on there last night callling someone on the ground in Hunington.
I'm not sure if anybody else is on this. I'm going to dig my logbook out and see.

Hello again,
I guess I should read more better. I see where 131.925MHz was listed as being used by Fed Ex. I thought it was strange to see mountian Air cargo using it.
By the way, I was wondering if there is some kind of observation area to watch planes at Rickenbacker Airport ? Also is the observation area still open at Port Columbus ? I'm going on vacation in a couple of weeks and will be spending a few days in Columbus. Looking for stuff to do and thought I check out some airports

There are no guarantees with these frequencies, just because 131.925 is extremely common for FedEx you could find other users on that freq. The only way to know for sure is to monitor them and match the callsigns and flight numbers to airports -- use a site such as http://www.flytecomm.com/cgi-bin/trackflight to confirm what airport a plane is talking to. Once you confirm usage, then submit it to the RR Database for everyone's future reference.
Also keep in mind that airlines contract to provide ground handling services for other airlines; for example, Delta provides ground handling for America West at IAH, so you will hear America West using the Delta operations freq to talk to IAH operations. You can also use the FCC database for hints as to frequency usage at a particular airport -- search for all the "AF" (aeronautical fixed) class licenses in a given county (this data is not currently available on RR, so use the main FCC site http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchAdvanced.jsp

Thanks a bunch KCChiefs9690 for advising me that the observation area at Port Columbus Airport is still open. It's one of my favorite places to visit in Columbus. I have a new camera I was wanting to try out. I may be up there Friday if I have the day off.
I know they are using Runways 28L and 28R. I have gotten some great shoes from the observation area of planes landing on 28L. I can't get any great shots of planes coming on 28R. I have went over near the post office parking lot off Sawyer Road to try to get a closer look but, security don't like you to park there for some reason. I like 28R beacuse it is used by my favorite airliners like Delta's Boeing 757 and Southwest's Boeing 737. I can watch the 757 fly all day.

Yes, I've only seen I 757 there, it was an America West one with the Phoenix Sun's paint job on it. 28L is the longer runway, used by most heavy jets, and Southwest likes to land on 28R because their gates and hangar are only a short ways away.

Man you are lucky to see the American West Boeing 757 in the special paint scheme. I love to get a photo of that one. Most 757's I see are from Delta and sometimes United Airlines.
As I stated, I'm probably going to be there this Friday and plan to do alot of scanner listening and planewatching. If not Friday maybe sometime in a couple of weeks. It's one of ny favorite planes to be at in Columbus.

Not sure if I'll make it to the airport on Friday. It depends on how much time I have left doing other stuff. I like to be getting out of town before rush hour hits. I have a 2 hour drive home and don't want to spend 2 extra hours stuck in traffic.
I don't take pictures from the roof. I stay parked in the observation area. Security seems to be "heavy" everytime I'm up there and I don't want to end up some place I'm not allowed. I'm sure your allowed on the roof but, I don't want all the trouble to get there.
