So the US Capitol Police are operating on channel 3 [170.175] tonight, but the pl has changed from 107.2 to 156.7. Also there was a radio tech doing radio checks on all 5 channels earlier this evening, with what seemed like csq. I wonder if there are larger changes for the system in place - such as perhaps digital or encryption?

The US Cap Police also have tgs on the 380 mhz trs in which some will be encrypted. Heard them talking about it on the 380 system a couple of month's ago. Also the USDOD is silent because they all moved over to the 380 system a while ago. There are 12 cc's active in the Wash DC metro area currently. Half are encrypted comms. Goodthing i bought the 396 when i did back in November.

US Capitol Police PL Changes

Is this the TRS they're also on, or is it one of the other Army TRS's?

The 380 system that the US Cap Police is using sometimes is not listed but is Active in the DC area. Also on a little side note the MPs and fire in Quantico are now using the 380 trs too. Have been listenning to FT Belvoir and Ft Myers on the 380 systems. Just tune between 380 to 390 mhz. and you can find 10 to 12 control channels in the DC area at 1 time in which some are part of the US Army system and NSA.

very good. Thanks for the info! I tried scanning through the 380 band today down here and had trouble picking but a control channel. I will have to try some more since it seems there is at least some unencyrpted traffic.

I doubt that CP will be switching over anytime soon - mainly because they have a huge investment in Waris radios...

From what I understand, they all simply went narrow band.
