I heard the USCG on 157.1000 MHz which is Marine Channel 22 on my scanner's search function.

They were giving advisories on the Arkansas River.

Thought it interesting and thought I would pass it along.

I believe they do that twice a day, 12 hours apart as a navigation aide. We used to listen to them along the coast when vacationing at Dauphin Island, Ala., and elsewhere around the Gulf shores.

They do that all the time in USCG District Nine.

They first annouce that they are going to announce the NOTICE TO MARINERS on Channel 16 and then Announce them on Channel 22 Alpha.

I know that the The Dominion Of Canada Coast Guard does the same thing. I just cannot remember how many times a day they make their Announcements. They call them NOTICE TO SHIPPING. Also, please be advised, when listening to the Canadian version, tmeperatures will be in Centigrade/Celsius.

That would have been Sector Lower Mississippi River in Memphis that you heard. Coverage area, OK, AR, Southern MO, Western TN, Western MS, Northern LA. Remote transmitters/receivers all over the AOR. Six cutters stationed throughout this area providing service to Aids to Navigation on the rivers.

"Remote transmitters/receivers all over the AOR."

What does AOR mean? Besides a radio scanner maker?
