Good Evening,
While listing to the Coast Guard Marine information broadcasts, I have always wondered if that is a recording or a live person? This is done nightly at 22:00 or 10:00 PM. Thanks.

If it is recurring Marine Information Broadcast it most likely could be recorded. No real way to tell unless it's exactly the same, but sometimes one will be a female voice and the other being a male. With Rescue 21 the watchstanders have the ability to record these. Many broadcasts are repeated many times during day, so all are aware if they didn't have the radio on earlier. Some of the type of broadcasts that are repeated are notices for fireworks and large marine events within the sector.

Also with Rescue 21 the received transmissions audio are recorded on digital source unlike the old days when they had to rewind the tape to replay something they could have missed. Much of these upgrades to Rescue 21 was due to case of the Sailing Vessel Morning Dew in 1998. Much information is online about this and aftermath you just need to google it.
