What is USCG SAR Comms using these days on the Oregon Coast? Specifically Air to Ground for beach rescues? They are not on VHF Fire channels much, so I'm assuming they are on their own VHF or UHF channels. Are the below frequencies used from Air Station North Bend to Sector Columbia River/Astoria? What is the range like? USCG operates three air stations on the Oregon Coastline (North Bend, Newport and Astoria).

Air to ground for rescues along the beaches are almost always on VHF Marine Ch 22 or 23. Calling/hailing occurs on Ch 16.

If you’re dealing with inland coast guard helo operations, they’ll still try to use channel 22 but they do have Oregon SAR (SAR Orange) capabilities which is sometimes used. This is primarily because agencies east of the coast range that utilize coast guard, aren’t as familiar navigating their radios to marine channels.
