Heard US Marshalls working surveillance in Raleigh, NC.

Sounds like they are using a cell phone tracker/locator system. They keep talking about hits from the cell phone and a distance from their location. Even sent cars to check on signals in that location.

Yeah they probably just have someone on the phone with the phone carrier's LE assistance desk. Once you have a warrant for that stuff, or exigent circumstances requiring haste, it's easy to get a constant ping update set up.

Raleigh and Durham PD is known to have Stingray cell phone locators, that was in the news last year. Wonder if state agency also has one and was working with the US MS?

Your cellphone can be your friend or your worst enemy that wants to kill you off and dump you in a dirt ditch.

As 'GAW mentioned above, they are used on a state level as well.

I was assigned to a New England state's Violent Fugitive Apprehension Squad 14-16 years ago, and we had one back then. I believe it did have US property tags on it, and we did work with USMS a lot, but the unit stayed with the Lieutenant who was the head of the squad.

Today I work for a federal agency and we have at least three different types. None are called Stingray however.
