USB-1 Driver for 396T?

I know this has been hashed out probably all over this forum and throughout the web, but I can't seem to find it. Received my 396T today, brand new, I also received the USB-1 cord, my PC cannot find the driver. I goto Uniden's website and downloaded a program thinking it would install the driver on my PC, it didn't. Thought I should register it, perhaps that would allow me to download a driver for it. Went to registration, and it asks for an ESN #, which mine does not have YET, downloading esn_loader, but how will that apply an ESN to my scanner if its unable to connect via the USB-1 cord?

Obviously I am doing something wrong. Where do I start off?

Go to My Uniden News, login (Need to register your scanner) and click the download area. The USB-1 link is there along with the scanner model number downloads.
