Hello All:
Throwing this question out there with the hopes that the RR members with a technical Windows OS background might be able to help me figure something out. I have a USB audio interface (Tascam model US-1641) that I was hoping to use to stream multiple scanner feeds. My plan was to replace all of my internal PCI sound cards and instead connect my scanners to the multiple inputs on the Tascam and use it externally.
After installing the appropriate Windows drivers and connecting the Tascam via USB (2.0), the interface properly appears in Device Manager under both USB and Sound. However, in Windows sound properties only 1 line input is being recognized even though the unit has multiple line inputs. I have a multi-input Delta M-Audio 1010 card on the same Windows PC and all of the inputs are recognized and available for use in Windows? But with the Tascam on either XP or Win7, the result is the same - only 1 Line Input is recognized.
I'm not sure if I'm hitting a native Windows limitation, a USB limitation or a driver-related issue, but was hoping for an explanation from some of the members here or better yet a potential solution or work around. It should be noted that I have been communicating with another Tascam owner on RR who has a Firewire interface model and he is able to see all of his mutliple line inputs and runs 4 feeds here using it. My assumption is that Firewire vs. USB 2.0 wouldn't make any difference, but I could be wrong?
Any help, guidance and/or technical explanation regarding the problem I'm having would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
MODS: I couldn't tell if the nature of this post fit better here or under the streaming forum, so please move this it's warranted.
Mike
