I miss-placed the USB Cable for SDS200.
I went thru my cables, for other devices, and found one, the scanner recognized.
"USB cable detected, select USB mode"
I was able to make changes to the scanner and save the new data.

Can I do damage to the scanner by not using the "official" Uniden cable?
thank you for your time. Happy scanning

Hi,

You pretty much answered your own question by having success with it. It's a pretty generic cable actually. I do believe there may be some cables that only pass power and are not capable of transferring data, but I've never experienced that. I'm sure someone else has more knowledge than me on that but basically you are fine with what you did.

As others have said, it's just a standard USB-A to Micro USB cable. I bought ones with a right-angle connector so they don't stick out as far on the front of the scanners and don't use the supplied cables.

If the one you found was a power-only cable your PC wouldn't see the scanner. You should be good to go!
