Yes, that was my problem, finding the correct comm port. After that, I just gave up, hoping that Uniden would do the right thing and change to USB. I will try the PC card slot alternative, that sounds do-able, I already have the wireless connection thru my router.

I have seem that a number of people have bought the USB convertor of some sort. I thinking if there is anyone out there that can check the conections and report the pin out. I can buy a plug that fit in the scannner and make the proper usb connection and possibly make it work with the arch program.
If so i will post the results in this forum for those that don't have serial ports.....

Hi DigiPimp, I certainly hope that works for you, although when I contacted Uniden some time ago regarding this issue, they told me that the plug that goes into the scanner is a custom item, that I wouldn't be able to find one. Don't know how true that was and that was awhile ago.

Yes, Tsch6373 I think that you were right i searched today for about fives hours in and out of all kinds of stores. NO LUCK just bad luck. 
No cable nothing to fit in the end of the scanner.
