I bought a USB cable that came with my 396XT scanner. My scanner also came with three CD ROMS

1. RadioReference
2. Police Call
3. Uniden User Guide

The USB cable says I must install a driver first before using the USB cable. I cannot seem to find it?? Is it on one of the CD-ROMS? Am I overlooking it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is the correct link if the USB cable you received was the USB-1 cable from Uniden (a single cable that goes between your PC and the scanner). If you were supplied an adapter (that you plug the scanner's serial cable into then plug that into the PC) then it might have a different driver.

No scanner has USB drivers...the drivers are for the adapter cable itself.

UPMan is, of course, correct. I assumed that it was the Uniden cable since the OP referred to it as a cable rather than an adapter. Shouldn't have made that assumption. However, based on a PM from the OP that he has succeeded in transferring some data from Freescan to his scanner, I lucked out.
