Thanks for the try but everything seems to be for PCI modems and don't seem to fire up the USB version.

Well how about that. I ended up solving it by letting the hardware wizard go on-line to find the driver. Of the ba-zillion times I have tried that option I swear it is the first time it worked. I just go used to not even trying it. Go figure!!!!!!

is this under Vista? Under Vista it seems to work pretty well. I've used it a number of time and with a few exceptions, it either installs the driver or directs me to a site with the driver.

Me too! It never worked!

Looks like Leibowitz's Rule kicked Murphy's ass, huh?

I think it's was Leibowitz's Rule. Read it in a tidbit paper years ago! Basically Murphy's law says if you use a hammer, chances are you'll hit your thumb. Leibowitz's Rule states that you use both hands! LOL

SP3 by any chance? I'm surprised as well that it worked.
Right up to date with SP3. Just glad that something worked. EVDO on the cell phone gets a bit pricey when you have no monthly block of data purhcased. Next time though I will try it first instead of using the cell to surf around and look for drivers, could have had it up and running in under a minute if I had tried it the first time. Oh well, live and learn.
