USB or 9 Pin?

Looking for a programing cable, what is the easiest to use?
9 Pin or USB?
I have a 396T Scanner.

If your PC has a RS232 port, the 9-pin is easier, as you don't have to worry about additional drivers for a USB adapter.

What drivers are they? Prolific just came out with a new version that checks the chip and if it doesn't pass it won't work, I'm having that problem now

I used the old Prolific drivers for my usb adapter because the newer drivers wouldn't work. Then stopped window from updating the Prolific driver automatically. It has been working great ever since.
