What would be a good high DB gain USB wifi antenna. I need one thats got a good range distance and can actually pickup nearby signals.

Thanks

I have seen similar on Ebay and wondered how good they are. Let us know, my Father in Law needs a little more range on his wifi.

Not sure what direction you are trying to get signal from but have you thought of parabolic and aim it?

It does work indeed. If you make the template, and aim in the general direction of your laptop the signal should be quit strong. I'd like to make one large reflector and place it behind both antennas instead of the two I have now.

Two Antennas for WiFI, both of which I currently use on a daily basis...

First one is outdoors and has a very high gain. We are using this one at our local amateur radio club for point to point operations to our Wi-Fi Provider which is over 4 miles away at his residence....... Still have over 6mbps even considering the distance.... Of course we are going from a elevated altitude to his residence which has the other antenna mounted on a tower..........

14 dBi Backfire Series Antenna - Parabolic Antennas for 2.4GHz - Antennas - Fleeman, Anderson & Bird, Corp.

The 2nd one is one I have hooked up to my computer right now. My neighbor has FIOS which I pay him $10.00 a month to use his connection... You can find these really cheap on the web. It has two antennas, a 9.5db and a 5.5db gain that comes with it...

ALFA AWUS036H REVIEWS of the antenna are at

I'll put it to you this way.... Before I was only getting about a 1/2 dozen signals from the neighborhood...... From the 3rd story of our residence... Afterwards: 27 different access points........

Thank you much, that makes me feel a lot better about it. I really only have 1 particular network im interested in and right now just using a WG111 adapter up to the ceiling im getting 1 sometimes 2 bars(just enough to keep a steady signal) so i hope this increases the signal. Although i would love to receive more, as backups:lol:.

Just an update on the antenna i bought. I was absolutely surprised how well this antenna picks up. I was surprised at all the networks i have found and how well the signal is. If anyone is in the market for a WIFI antenna this one is definitely a thumbs up.
