Does USCG Sector San Diego have remote transmitter(s) down in Baja? I am hearing them on 21A talking w/ Coast Guard 1702 (who is unheard at my location) and it sounds like they are working an incident about half way down Baja near Cedros Island. This is way beyond line-of-sight. What gives?

Hi Brandon, not too sure of USCG having US transmitter south of the boarder
but with you monitoring 21a, could it be a trans from coast guard aux?
not being a US angency but a vol group the may have a transmitter in MX.

Multicast at Sector between 21A and the operating frequency (often HF)?
(Allows local units to know the radio operator at Sector is communicating on another circuit.)

No sites in Mexico, however District 11 (which includes San Diego) does have a radio site out on San Clemente island which does propagate out quite far beyond the US ADIZ.

yeah it was on VHF for sure. The only traffic noted on HF was 702 and PAC in secure voice.
Here is a partial recording of the 21A activity: http://cl.ly/HGYP/157.050-Sector-San-Diego.mp3
If I copied the position correctly it was 27 59.5N 115 22.1W

Nice haul for VHF!
Btw LAFlyer, I think you sent a PM to me but I can't seem to find it. Can you re-send. Thanks.
