Interesting article, thanks for posting. It's good to see such a broad response from the worldwide ham community.

However, claims of interference can be exaggerated to make a case. The FCC always cited "interference to (un-named) broadcasters / radio services" when shutting down pirate radio stations. I don't want to see any spectrum lost, but AST seems to be making a good-faith effort to minimize interference to amateur radio
