If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am trying to connect up a CPI MR200N tone remote adapter to a Motorola MCD 5000 deskset and am seeing a rather strange issue which I hope someone here has encountered in the past: When the MR 200N is connected to the MCD 5000 through a Motorola Radio Gateway Unit (RGU), or, whether it’s connected directly (no RGU), I'm hearing a constant 2,600 Hz tone in the speaker of the MCD. When I connect the MR200N to a CPI TR10 tone remote deskset, either the tone disappears or I no longer hear it.

Note this 2600 Hz tone sits there persistently; before, during and after the low level guard tone gets sent.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Kenan (Wildwing),

Well first off the MR200 does not run on standard TIA tones and MCD5000 will not run it. That adapter can only be used with its companion Alpha series remote. No clue where the tone is coming from.

Whoops. My mistake, I was thinking of the MCP200 series. Disregard the above post. Let me think about the funny tone.

The issue has been resolved. Turned out to be a grounding issue. Due to the fact that the MCD 5000, and the RGU are powered by POE, there is no return path (no shield on the CAT 6). So, when the RGU's ground, the Radio's ground, and the radio's power supply ground were tied together, the went away.

Lesson learned.

I am aware that CPI is out of business and I have run across one of thread that states that they repair CPI Tone Remotes.

I need assistance. I have two CPI Tone Remotes, TR10 and aTSR412A that are in need of Tender Loving Care.

Can any of you educated, experienced, knowledge technicians lend me assistance?

In short H E L P!

Sir. I am in need to locate any repair service for CPI tone remotes. I have a TSR421A that has a TX red light that I can not turn off. I also have a TR10 that I can not power up. I have checked in input voltage and fuse that is in good order.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Dave Porta
