Okay posting here for the first time on this site.
What is a good robust, portable- mobile capable radio for digital modes, that can be bought used at around $500 ( including power supply, antenna, antenna tuner, filters) ? jt65 and fsk31 and any other low power digital modes are my goal, while operating stealth inside an apartment complex.
Am thinking my budget may be too low and need to boost it to $750.
1) have read that an yaesu ft817nd with Miraclewhip antenna might be good. Whip antenna means I can use it mobile and in my apartment.
2). Or the more modern icom 706mkiig radio is good. Now only available used.
3) would even consider a ft450at as it has an autotuner.
Used is great. As long as it has not been hacked up internally. Many say that seems to happen with these radios.
All advice and comments are appreciated. Need to know all the tricks that might cause problems ifi forget them
