Got my Pro-668 yesterday, it was advertised as used but is like new. Arrived in only three days. Only problem was the SD card was blank. Got the software from RR forum and was able to load frequencies and update software and frequency data base. But am having problems getting Win 10 laptop to recognize scanner when plugged in, can't update firmware, need to load frequencies through SD card reader. Called them about software on SD card and they are checking on it for me, seemed concerned.

Overall, I think it was a good deal and satisfied with company and how they described scanner. Went ahead and bought the Pro 651 afterwards, only $130.

N1GAW have you looked at the whistler site about windows 10 might help with your problems.
https://www.whistlergroup.com/usa/faq/index/categoryshow/cat_id/4/
1.) When you are signed in to Windows 8 / 8.1 as Administrator connect the WS1080. It will then attempt to load the driver and appear to succeed but the driver will not be working at that point. Even though the serial driver is not correctly installed you will still see the scanner’s MicroSD card.

2.) Copy the INF folder from the WS1080 to a folder on your computer

3.) In Windows 8.0 While on the start load the Charms Bar by pointing the mouse at the upper right hand corner of the screen.

4.) Select Power and hit restart while holding down the Shift key.

5.) A selection of Troubleshooting options will come up, select the Troubleshoot option

6.) Another page will appear, select Advanced Options.

7.) The next page will display several repair options, Select the Startup Settings to change the behavior of Windows Startup and then click restart on the next page.

8.) A menu with 9 selections will appear. Select #7 or F7 to disable Driver Signature enforcement.

9.) Windows 8 will restart.

10.) With the WS1080 still connected open Device Manager from the Control Panel. Select the Com port assigned to the 1080 and select Update Driver.

11.) Select Browse and point it to the .inf file located within the INF folder you copied from the 1080.

12.) Install this Driver. An alert screen will pop up to warn you that this is an unsigned driver, Select install anyway. This will load the unsigned driver and allow it to work with EZScan

13.) Check to see if it is working by Starting EZScan and selecting Scanner SD Card and select to set the Real Time Clock to Computer time.

Just got my new (to me) PRO 651 from Digicircle.com. I'm loving it works great, looks great and came with 3 battery holders (2 black and 1 yellow). That's two scanners at great prices that were like new.

THANK YOU SCMA127 really appreciate the tip!

I also ordered a "new" (?) Pro-668 from DigiCircle. It was listed as new in the box, however it clearly wasn't totally brand new. There was no screen protector on the display (I presume it should have had one) and the display is not pristine (a few light scratches). Plus there was tape over the box flap - never seen that on a totally new item.

I could not load the drivers and software from the included SD card and got errors. The scanner was stuck at the RS logo (subject of some other threads I've read). Was afraid it might be corrupt, but I downloaded the driver/software off the web and was able to connect to the scanner and run updates and write to scanner. Set up a V-folder for my primary local config and put that on the scanner and pulled it up.

So looks like it is working ok. Also a learning curve since this method of programming is new to me. Not sure I like it as well as models like my GRE PSR-600 or the BCD996XT (or P2) form-factor. I see how it can certainly be more dynamic to use, especially for someone who travels. Anyway, will keep plugging away at it and am sure it will get easier as I fiddle around more with the software and the scanner menus.

If scanner stuck at logo it' s a corrupt SD card, more likely need to be formatted and re download configuration files back to SD card. Best way to do it is out of scanner with SD card reader, it a lot quicker and less issues.

Not good that they are selling them as new, as in your case clearly not new. Hate when sellers do that, as they do it on eBay a lot to get more money for them. I just bought a couple of pro 651 and a BC125AT, will have to see what condition it come in. They did listed it as in excellent and like new condition in box. So hopefully they are in clean enough condition. The PRO-651 are a good deal at the $123.79 price

I likely re-formatted the SD in the scanner (which I read is a crap shoot) when I was fiddling around, but it got squared away. I think all that was a good exercise as it forced me to find a way to work around the problems and learn in the process. I too was disappointed with the condition of the display. The case looks fine and otherwise all seems fine with it.

Agree that is a fine price for the Pro-651. I used to have the Pro-106 and was quite happy with its performance and method of programming.

Did get one of the PRO-651 from Digicircle. Did come fast in 2 days, but shipping material wasn't good, just shove it a bubble wrap flat rate envelope. Just glad it didn't come damaged.

Yeah that is exactly how my Pro-668 came. No damage, but was a little surprised it came in a thinly padded envelope. I am curious if there will ever be a firmware update for the Pro-651 and how committed RS is to the process given all they've been through. Hope you enjoy the scanner.

The Pro-651 scanner has very good audio and dead simple to program. One of them going to keep. Doubt RadioShack will keep up with the firmware updates, with current track record. They don't even have a suitable link for the software needed on the SD card for the Pro-668. So if you don't have a backup, or erase the card by mistake, or gets corrupted, You have to hope someone else have a backup and put a link for download, if you didn't do a backup. What kills me is they are still asking retail for it with pretty much no support? You figure they would dump the rest of them at a reasonable discount and just do away with it and call it discontinued?
