From the SWLing.com blog - the title says it all. Perhaps some of you are using the mini whip in your setup - this might help quell some of the noise issues


This antenna is the same as the one used at the well known University of Twente (in the Netherlands) SDR. There are many clones of this design out there. I understand the Bonito Boni Whip (sold at Universal Radio) is a clone of the PA0RDT design.

The article mentioned wrapping the coax in a coil and using snap on chokes. I wrote the author asking for a bit more on this, and he said that the coax wrap is about 25 cm in diameter, and he's using 6 #31 snap on chokes.
