• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Anyone else getting corrupted characters when loading bootapp? The Burnapp and the Firmware seem to load fine. It's supposed to load the batch script with small dots showing its progress. About 1/3 of the way though, I get garbage characters. It finishes anyway and I load the firmware. I go to load a personality and it says "Wrong Radio Type" and fails to program. I've tried a few different computer CPU levels and OS types and same thing.

I am not a Harris expert, but I have read it is possible to get P25 phase 2 working on the P7200. I don't think the details are on this site though. You might want to search other sites.
The radio is TDMA capable.

There are certain "special" hardware revisions that allow the 7200 to receive Phase 2, but that special hardware is few and far between. None of the radios from the batch that the seller is offering has that special hardware. If you want to listen to Phase 2 with the radios from the link in the first post, you'll have to purchase Option 47 from a Harris dealer. I bought five of these radios and none of them would receive Phase 2 due to not having that special hardware. I purchased Option 47 for four of the five and they all work great now. The hardware revisions in the four that I upgraded are as follows:
Sticker - Internal - SD # on Sticker
RT - H8 - 10253
RT - H8 - 10253
RT - JA - 10254
RJB - JA - 12195

Yep, unless you get your hands on a P7200 with a H/W version of K4 or later, their is no other way to get Phase 2 receive on these without purchasing the feature. Trying to find one of those is probably not worth the time.

The P7200 has three types of radios: Select = Rotary channel selector only, Scan = Partial Keypad and System = Full Keypad. Make sure you use the correct P7200 radio when doing the burn app and other files. Hope it helps.
