Can you use the B tip on the RS pro 96? They sell you the C tip but I have connection problems with the C tip. Anyone?? ( I am speaking about the AC adaptor here)

I use the "B" tip on both AC & DC adapters for my 96 and they work great!

Hey jf222- When you use the C tip- do you experience a power disruption? My scanner re boots when using the C tip when i have it plugged in. How about the B tip? any problems? thanks in advance..

That is a normal (but aggravating) situation with the Pro-96. Do a search to find out more on that. The "C" tip is the correct tip if it is the white one. If you have a Black one the "B" is a better fit. I don't know this to be a fact, but I believe that RS changed the spec's just slightly when they changed Mfg's. Hope this helps.ps630 said:
I had the SAME problem with my Pro-93. Eventhough the manual says to use a "C" tip, the "B" is definitely the right one. I e-mailed Radio Shack with my findings (over 3 years ago) in the hopes they would fix any new manual printings (let alone test the tip size on new models). Just shows how the little guy is like a fart in the wind...................

The correct tip for the pro 96 is the B tip.

On both my pro 96, in car and at home I use the white B plug, it's the only one that works correctly.

Strange, Bill. I use a black "B" plug in the vehicle (because I had it already) and a white "C" plug in the house. What doesn't make any sense is that in the new (white) series the "B" plug is acutally smaller (OD) then the "C" plug and would make it more easily fall out.bnglbill said:

All I can say is I took the scanner when I went to the shack and I tried several, not sure exactly which ones but they were all white and the only one that fit correctly and worked perfectly when pulling on the cord and turning the plug, etc. was the white B plug. I bought 2 and have been using them for about 2 months without even the slightest problem. It fits nice and tight, just like you would expect.

Well thanks for all the relpies guys. Looks like I need to switch to the B tip as my scanner keeps rebooting with the C tip...
