using only one radio

I need to setup up uniy trunker and I only have a radio shack 2050 that has been modified
for a data slicer. I am using win 7 version 32. I have tried to get uniy trunker to work but so far
no luck. Due I need to have a newer radio to make it work or can it be possible to run it off my data slicer like the old trunker 3.2.3

Set aside the slicer. Pipe the discriminator audio directly into a microphone input. Configure a signal receiver to decode the control channel from the waveform found on this audio input.

I think it won't do any harm to go to nooelec.com and order a RTL2832u R820T Mini dongle. Use your scanner discrinminator for control frequency and the dongle for receive radio. It'll run you a small $20.95 including shiipping. Software defined radio that small can sure get you going!
