Using trunker w/ Provoice cap. radio

I have read before someone on here using trunker with an additional radio with discriminator tap to feed a provoice-capable radio for the purpose of monitoring these digital transmissions.

I presume the discriminator tap output would need to be mixed in some fashion with an 800mhz signal. Can anyone shed more details on how this would be accomplished, including specs on any of the components used.

You need three radios.

#1. a radio to provide discriminator audio for control channel decoding.
#2. a radio that can be controlled by whatever decoding application you've chosen.
#3. a radio that decodes ProVoice audio.

Radio #1 can be any model tapped for discriminator audio. The PSR-500 or PSR-600 with data cable will also work.

Radios 2 will provide the IF signal for radio 3. Most models don't normally provide this so you'll have to tear open and modify both.
